When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they convinced Harrison Ford to come on the show, Segel said that Goldstein initially wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and that he would audition people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that he should at least pitch it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately reject it, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford was being brought on board, sparking interest from other famous actors.

Eventually, Goldstein spoke to Ford and sold him on the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was excited nonetheless. Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). And the rest of the show is great.
And Jessica is perfect
He has the weird, idiotically confident energy needed for the role. His humor is perfect for the dialogue. This is the new way to do situation dramas. No real punchlines, just engaging personalities with a hint of weirdness and family circumstances that are just a little out of the ordinary, but still understandable.
You’ll lose your license immediately
Obviously, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd. Simply impossible. But we allow metaphorical situations in drama. And in this script, we perceive a strong determination in the decisions.
To me, it’s easy and fun
We have to give the writers the benefit of the doubt and try to get the gist. Apparently, other reviewers had a hard time.
